Radio communication training
Narva Raadioklubi provides training and practical sessions for everyone who wants to discover the world of amateur radio, learn how to use radio communication and better understand how modern and traditional communication tools work.
Amateur radio is not only a hobby, but also a practical skill. It helps people understand the basics of radio communication, learn to work with equipment, master radio procedures and gain experience that can be useful both in everyday amateur radio activity and in situations where ordinary communication channels are unavailable.
We are ready to help beginners take their first steps: understand radio stations, frequencies, antennas, repeaters, digital communication modes and preparation for the amateur radio exam. For those who are only beginning to take an interest in radio, the sessions can be a first introduction to this field and a way to understand whether it is close and interesting to them.
Licence preparation
One of the important areas of the club’s work is preparation for amateur radio licence exams. We help people understand the main topics needed by a beginner radio amateur: radio communication rules, amateur radio bands, the basics of equipment operation, safety, radio communication ethics and the practical use of radio stations.
Narva Raadioklubi also takes part in organising exams for amateur radio category D. This allows people who want to officially begin amateur radio communication to complete preparation and take the first step toward receiving their own callsign.
Volunteer training
A separate area of our work is training volunteers who may be involved in search-and-rescue operations, supporting city services or carrying out emergency preparedness tasks. In such situations, radio communication must be clear, disciplined and reliable. Therefore, the sessions focus not only on the technical side, but also on practical radio procedure skills.
During training, participants learn the basic principles of radio station operation, rules for going on air, the use of simplex channels and repeaters, and the features of analogue FM communication and digital DMR communication. The sessions also cover organising communication in field conditions, cooperation between groups, sending short messages and maintaining communication with limited resources.
For volunteers and members of emergency teams, it is especially important to be able to use a radio station quickly and correctly: select the right channel, transmit a message briefly and clearly, confirm receipt of information and follow radio discipline. These skills cannot be gained from instructions alone — they must be practised.
Practical sessions
Narva Raadioklubi conducts classes, consultations and practical exercises, helps with equipment setup and explains how to use radio communication safely and effectively. We want the region to have more people who understand the possibilities of radio communication and are ready to apply this knowledge in real conditions.
Our sessions can be useful for beginner radio amateurs, volunteers, participants in search-and-rescue activities, representatives of local emergency teams, young people and everyone interested in radio, technology and communication.
