Improvement of the Narva emergency communication centre
At the end of 2024, Narva Raadioklubi once again received support from the Ministry of the Interior
and the National Foundation of Civil Society (KÜSK). The amount of support was 4002 euros.
The goal of project KIF/2024/333-1 is to improve the already existing Narva emergency communication
centre and increase the resilience of radio communication in crisis situations.
The technical modernisation is intended to ensure more reliable radio communication for city services
involved in dealing with the consequences of emergencies. This will improve coordination between services
and allow them to maintain constant contact with each other.
The project also strengthens the possibility for city residents to contact the emergency communication
centre. If necessary, residents will be able to use licence-free PMR446 radio stations to establish contact
and request assistance.
As part of the project, a new Hytera HR1065 repeater, two new Diamond X510 antennas and a new antenna cable
have already been purchased. The project also includes the purchase of a tent for field activities and
additional equipment needed for the work of the centre.
Development of the emergency radio communication system in Narva
In 2024, the National Foundation of Civil Society (KÜSK) supported Narva Raadioklubi’s project
to develop a radio communication system for emergency and crisis situations in Narva. The amount
of support was 4879 euros.
Thanks to the project, the club was able to modernise the repeater centre, increase its resilience
during power outages and create a reserve of radio stations for use in crisis situations.
As part of the project, the plan was to purchase a new 434 MHz repeater to replace the old self-built
repeater and improve the quality of radio communication. The project also included the purchase of
five handheld DMR Anytone 878 radio stations and two mobile DMR Anytone 587 radio stations.
To ensure autonomous operation of the repeater centre in the event of a power outage, the project
also included the purchase of a portable petrol generator.
At that time, these became some of the largest investments in the development of Narva Raadioklubi’s
emergency communication centre.
In addition to the technical part, the project also included information work with Narva residents.
The club planned to hold meetings, talk about its activities, the capabilities of the radio communication
centre and how residents can stay connected in a crisis situation.
