How to become a radio amateur?

Amateur radio is a technical hobby for people interested in radio communication, electronics, antennas, digital technologies, satellites and emergency communication.

Your path to the air

1

Discover amateur radio

Visit Narva Radio Club. We will introduce you to amateur radio, show the equipment and answer your questions.

2

Practical training at the club

With the guidance of experienced radio amateurs you will learn how to operate a station, make radio contacts and gain the practical skills required for the practical examination.

3

Practical examination

Demonstrate your ability to conduct a radio contact with a correspondent selected by the examination board.

4

Theory examination

After successfully completing the practical part, pass the theory examination covering operating procedures, radio fundamentals and regulations.

5

Receive your callsign

After successfully passing both examinations, the documents are submitted to TTJA and your personal amateur radio callsign is issued.

6

Welcome on the air!

You are now ready to operate independently, use repeaters, satellites and digital modes, participate in contests and become part of the amateur radio community.
